Meeting Minutes: May 9, 1934 On the evening of May 9th, 1934 a meeting of the Library Board was held, Mr. J.R. Bush president in the chair, Mr. H.G. Strobel treasurer and Mrs. H.P. Gillette secretary being present.
A balance of $29.99 was reported in the treasury April 1st.
It was decided to secure an estimate of seeding the path thro the library lawn from N.W. corner to S.E. corner and if cost were not prohibitive to proceed with the work of closing said path to the public, temporary barriers to be erected at each end if same might be deemed advisable.
Also the janitor was to be instructed to use an antique copper or bronze lacquer in refinishing the fountain in the library grounds.
Pres. Bush reported a gift of books from the library of the late Dr. Crittenden, the same to be selected by himself at the request of Mrs. Crittenden. Meeting adjourned.
Respectfully submitted, Beulah P. Gillette Sec.

Mr. Farnsworth, President of board, ordered flowers to be sent to the home of Mr. McPherson. It seems appropriate that there should be placed on the records of the Howell Carnegie Library some expression of its appreciation of the services of Mr. M.J. McPherson who has been taken from our midst. He loved the Library and took great pleasure in discharging his duties. He was always active in promoting the best interests of the Library.
