This is a photograph of Joe Anne's Sportswear, 108 East Grand River Avenue, Howell, Michigan. The store was owned by Mrs. Joe Anne Swann in the 1960's. It was located on the north side of East Grand River Avenue, and along side of the store was Yax Jewelry and Gambles Hardware.
Joe Anne's Sportswear featured a variety of women's clothing including maternity wear. It was later owned by Mrs. William Titmas (1975), then Grace Laich and Vesta Jurgeleit (1980).
The date of this photograph is unknown. -

Hartman Saloon, Brighton, Michigan
This photograph is also found in the "Old Brighton Village" book, 1974. In that book, this photograph is captioned, "William Deeter, bartender,and Peter and Bert Hartman pose with three customers in the Hartman Saloon on Main Street, Brighton - about 1850."
The book continues, "A meat market replaced the saloon just before the turn of the century, and the deerhead, horns, and clock remained. The market was located where Hayner Real Estate office now stands". (1974).
Hayner Real Estate was located at 408 W. Main Street, Brighton.
Unlikely 1850, William Deeter born 1864 is found in Brighton, in the 1900 census, as saloonkeeper. -

This photograph is from the "Old Brighton Village" book, 1974, and shows two images.
In the upper left corner is the C. F. Weiss Drug Store. It was located on the SW Corner of Main and Grand River, Brighton - 1926. On the ground level, was the Weiss Barbeque, and the upper level held dances and meetings.
The image in the lower right corner shows Emil Keehn who brought the first hearse to Brighton in 1922. The hearse was also used as an ambulance. -
