This all-boy band was popular during the 1920's and performed in local concerts, in parades, at athletic events and conclaves of the Howell Commandery No. 28.

Howell Post Office, 123 South Walnut Street, Howell, Michigan, Cornerstone Laying, October 22, 1936
This series of photographs were taken on October 22, 1936 at the Ceremony for the Laying of the Cornerstone for the new Post Office in Howell, Michigan. It was located at 123 South Walnut Street.
The Howell Post Office was the first Federal building in Livingston County. The local committee, consisting of Postmaster Alfred H. Pfau, W.W. Blackney, Congressman of the 6th District of Flint, and Charles P. Adams, Mayor of Howell, had requested the Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of Michigan to lay the cornerstone according to the ritual of the Order. The Howell Commandery #28, Knights Templar, paraded from the Howell Lodge to the scene of the ceremony. The line of march proceeded east on Sibley to Court, north on Court to Grand River Avenue, west on Grand River to Walnut and south on Walnut to the Post Office site.

Kinsley S. Bingham, Brighton, Michigan, Governor, 1855 & 1857
This is a photograph of a float honoring Kinsley S. Bingham, of Brighton, Michigan. Kinsley S. Bingham was our first governor from the county of Livingston, Michigan.
Bingham was elected Governor of Michigan in 1855 and 1857, then was elected United States Senator from Michigan in 1859. He died in 1861.
The photo shows the "Hotel Hayes" in the background which is located in Jackson, Michigan. The Hayes Hotel building is still standing although not a hotel. If you look at a Google image of the hotel, you can tell based on the unique point at the top center and brick work. Also Jackson was where the historic "Meeting Under the Oaks" occurred on July 6, 1854 and is a Michigan Historic Site complete with a Michigan historical marker number S0015. It appears to be a 4th of July parade, circa 1954. -

The Tailors of Howell Float parked on State Street in Howell, Michigan. The float was for the 1876 Centennial parade. The view is looking northeast on State Street with the First Baptist church in the background. The building on the left is the present day Dairy Queen. View present day location.

This image was also included on a 1st National Bank Calendar.
State Street is also known as "Peanut Row". Which came about after businessman Frank Bushes placed a newspaper advertisement touting his new peanut roaster. Peaple who purchased his peanuts threw the shells in the street, and the nickname stuck. -
